1. Choose any 2 scenes - from any character - in Episodes 1-3.
— I’m still more focused on looking at people and actors at-large, and then adjusting the scripts and characters later, if needed, around the selected people/actors, so, you’re welcome to choose any scenes from any character. … I do understand there are characters with distinct, cultural names that you’ll be drawn to so if it makes it easier, you could do one scene with the character [name] that most matches you culturally and then another scene from a different character.
2. Play it freely, just within a general tone of “fun.”
— At this early stage I’m interested in seeing people’s own style and ideas on things, so I won’t give too much direction. The only thing to remember is that the series overall has a general tone of levity or fun. … At its core, Bound is a screwball comedy with drama, quiet, mania and more layered on top of that foundation. For reference, there was a mini-series from 2021 called It’s A Sin that had a similar idea/tone. That series was about the AIDS outbreak in the ‘80s so it ultimately had some weight to it (like Bound would) but there was still definitely a silliness to the characters and thus the story.
3. Use your natural accent. Adjust dialogue, if needed.
— For now, the characters are written as “international” but if you have a natural US/UK/AUS accent, I’d prefer you just use that. If you’re really comfortable with another accent, feel free to use it, but, if not, it’s best to use your natural speech. In the end, I’m open to different ideas on the characters and where they originate. … Also, feel free to adjust dialogue to better fit your speech. Obviously, this is all written with my [American] verbiage and I’d expect dialogue to change for certain actors/accents.
4. Tape a few minutes, however you can.
— I’m in no position to be picky, so please tape however you can, whether with a phone or a camera and whether it’s on your own or with a partner. Of course a blank or minimal background, with a shallow depth, would be preferred. Also, if you could be mostly off-book for a scene that would be ideal. … The length of tapes will vary, depending on scenes chosen, but “a few minutes" should be sufficient for takes on a couple of scenes.
For suggestion, it could be two versions/takes of each scene, equaling four options overall.
Also, if you don’t have a partner, I’d prefer if you shape something into more of a monologue. Or, at the least, try not use a scene that would require a lot of dialogue from computer playback.
